I think what influences teachers and students to use technology in the classrooms is how efficient and convenient it is. Students can learn and study with things like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It is also helpful for teachers because they can make PowerPoints and other things to display on a projector and teach the kids that way, which is a great way to learn. The world develops new technology every day and I think that is a big influence on why the use of technology is so big in classrooms today. Students and teachers can do anything by the click of a button and it makes everything a whole lot easier.
Something that is meaningful to me on the ISTE is that they ensure all students have access to technology. I think this is very important because not a lot of kids these days can afford their own technology, so providing every single one with technology is super important so they can all get the same experience with it and not be left out. Something on the ISTE that seems outside my current skill set is modeling digital citizenship by evaluating online resources. I personally have never done this so it is new to me hearing about it.
In today's world, most children now grow up with technology all around them. Being a "digital native," means that kids are growing up in this world where technology is huge and they are being surrounded by it every day. Most parents give their children iPads or tablets that mostly are only used to play games on. I do think kids should become aware of how technology works and how amazing it all is but I do not think kids should be introduced to technology at such a young age because it causes them to be addicted to technology. I think kids should be introduced slowly into technology through school and learn things on the computer instead of being handed an iPad and play games all day because there is a lot more to being a kid than being glued to technology all day. Today, I see that my fellow classmates and I know a lot more about technology than most my teachers and they are the ones asking us for help with their technology. This is because in my generation I grew up with technology and learned a lot about it and in their generation of growing up it did not consistent of a lot of technology, so we have a little more knowledge about it. I think if I become a teacher then my students will eventually know more about technology than I will, seeing as how much it is progressing every single day.

  1. Not everybody in the class have teaching experience but it does not mean that ISTE teachers standards are completely out of skill sets. For example the modeling digital citizenship you mentioned. Do you know what is digital citizenship? Have you think about how to cultivate it? Does that mean born to today's tech era, people are born with the ability to use tech? Does it mean that students know how to use tech responsibly given that they have been using YouTube since a very young age? Regarding this, how to incorporate tech in the classroom to encourage that? These are some overarching questions that guides this semester and I hope you can think about these.
